IN THE LOOP | So much has happened last week! We changed our operations to fit the demand, we are working to expose working exploitation of migrants to the media and we went to our first community event with 20 volunteers in both 1s and 2nd of August to celebrate National Tree Day in which we planted 1,225 gum trees to feed koalas being rehabilitated or residents of Wild life Sanctuaries.
So this past weekend we had our National Tree Day Community Event with Australian Ecosystems Foundation & Secret Creek Sanctuary. We camped at the sanctuary, had fun around the campfire, bounded, and worked hard. We achieved the amazing number of 1,225 Gum trees planted! A second edition of this amazing event will be coming up soon! Keep your eye on our page so you don't miss out!
We started our activities in November 2019 to help the community in the regional NSW area during the Bushfires. We worked on the weekends, carpool, sharing tents or sleeping in the car. It was an absolutely amazing experience for our volunteers, the local volunteers and the local community. We made friends during these trips that will stay forever. This project was very empowering for us as migrants to see the impact we can have with the broad Australian community regardless of our visa status. We heard through social media how all the help - from big charities, government and GoFundMe's was not getting to Towns located away from Metropolitan areas. We organized via facebook and WhatsApp over 250 volunteers, 2 trucks of donation goods and clothes, 20 missions and we drove to spend the weekend with those communities while volunteering with Blaze Aid.
